Fundraising Strategies

Believing that fundraising strategies must reflect each organization's unique position and constituency, Michael J. Worth & Associates avoids cookie-cutter solutions and offers pragmatic, results-oriented plans for increasing current and long-term support. This philosophy and approach guide all of our services to clients, including the following.

People Discussing Fundraising Campaign Strategies

Campaign Planning and Counsel

We provide full services for preparing and executing successful campaigns. This includes pre-campaign assistance in strategic planning, determining campaign readiness, and identifying campaign priorities and objectives. It also includes conducting a Campaign Readiness Assessment or a Feasibility Study. Experience suggests that the earlier counsel is involved in the campaign process, the more likely that the campaign will be planned on a foundation that leads to success. Our services may also include continuing guidance throughout the campaign. In this role, we meet regularly with campaign leadership and development staff, participating as members of the campaign team. In addition to other benefits, such ongoing support provides the following:

• Professional Expertise
• Discipline in Adhering to Established Principles and the Phases of a Successful Campaign
• An Object Perspective and Voice On Critical Strategies and Timing
• Support Developing Campaign Plans, Budgets, Materials, and Volunteer Efforts

Major and Principal Gifts

It is a well-established fact that 90-95 percent of an organization's philanthropic revenue will come from a relatively small percentage of gifts – those identified as major or principal gifts. Michael J. Worth & Associates assists organizations and institutions in building sound principal and major gift programs by providing the following:

• Building a Case for Support
• Developing Systems for Prospect Identification and Management
• Identifying Strategies for Prospect Cultivation and Solicitation
• Establishing Appropriate Performance Metrics and Systems for Tracking Activity
• Creating Programs for Recognition and Stewardship for Principal and Major Gift Donors

Planned Giving

Michael J. Worth & Associates assists organizations and institutions with comprehensive services in building effective planned giving programs. Planned giving, including gifts made through such vehicles as bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and other financial instruments, is one of the most rapidly growing areas of philanthropy. Planned giving is expected to grow substantially as the population ages. As such, it should be a part of a comprehensive fundraising program for all nonprofit organizations– even small ones. For major institutions, planned giving is likely to continue growing in its importance as a source of substantial gifts to endowment and other purposes.

Program Reviews and Design

A Development Program Review conducted by Michael J. Worth & Associates includes an examination of the organization's internal readiness for successful fundraising – whether in a campaign or an ongoing program. A Development Program Review is often the first step in preparing for a campaign, but it may be equally beneficial to an organization that is beginning a new fundraising program, an organization that desires to move its ongoing fundraising to a new level, or an organization that has recently completed a campaign and needs to determine its best strategy for continued success
